Mugs-Up Root Beer

First visit here. Really takes me back to the good ol days! Sad that the area is kinda run down around them, but food was delicious. We had Whizburgers, tots and onion rings to eat and everything was fantastic for a little burger shack! The prices and carhop service were great as well! We also had root beers and nothing is better than on-site made root beer; it has so much more flavor than those name brands. So, first time and first impressions: Wow! I was impressed! We will definitely return to this awesome throwback burger shack!!!

I've been coming to this place for years & years at this point. Let me just say it NEVER DISAPPOINTS!!! It's just as good today as it was all those years ago when my parents used to take us to Mugs Up to eat! If you want that old time feel like your actually at a drive up diner. Where the customer service is always super duper friendly and kind. If you want to experience what a loose meat sandwich is all about. Not only a loose meat sandwich but a EXCELLENT LOOSE MEAT SANDWICH!! Drink some of the absolute best Root Beer around. That's not only delicious but so so cold! Or if you're wanting a good old fashion "Black Cow" Rootbeer float? Look no further then "Mugs Up!" Located off 23rd hwy in Independence Missouri!! Mugs Up has a good variety of items on their menu. Anything from their famous loose meat sandwiches. To Pork Tenderloin sandwiches. The BEST Fried Burritos! Don't forget to try one of their delicious sides as well. Onion rings, fried mushrooms, chili cheese fries/tots, even a fire Fritos Chili Pie! I don't know how any person wouldn't enjoy their experience at "Mugs Up" It's definitely one of my favorite places to eat and will continue to be!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ To every employee as well as the owners of "Mugs Up", keep up the terrific work!!! #1 in my lineup of GOOD EATS!!!!!

Brings back memories loved coming here and always buying a gallon jug of root beer to go , A bit pricey than I remember but definitely worth stopping in and getting the best root beers in town .

Visited Mugs-Up for the first time. They have car-hop service just like in the old days. Our server was great. The burgers taste good, they are unique compared to other retro-burger joints in town and the crinkle cut fries were especially good. I'm not usually that into fries so they did a good job.

Been coming here for decades. It's an old school drive in right out of a movie. About everything here is good, but if you don't get the Black Cow you're REALLY missing out!

People say certain old-school drive inns are the best ever... I usually run there & end up disappointed. I am telling you, this meal was legit in my top 5 faves! They serve loose-meat burgers (sorta like sloppy joe style, without the tomato sauce), hot dogs with house made chili, house made onion rings & their very own house root beer!!! I ordered all of those to taste a variety & ended up eating every bite. Can't wait to go back

Definitely an awesome old school drive in. Their burgers were delicious, but definitely the initial shock on how they looked threw me off. The tots were probably my favorite side, but the fries were also tasty. Their prices were great especially after finding out their burgers were absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and service was fast. Overall I’d say this is a place everyone should check out at least once because then you will be hooked on their delicious food.

Old time comfort food goodness! The direct to car ordering and order delivery is so nice in an over automated society. The car hop gal is super friendly and professional and has a positive attitude at her job even when it’s cold outside. Had Whiz Burgers, tots, and onion rings and all were fantastic! Also, the root beer is some of the best I’ve ever had! Highly recommend this old school eating establishment!
